My brother has been sleeping with someone named Piccard.
The odds of two people named Piccard, both being the sort who would be of interest to my father--and my brother, now that he's decided to continue Father's research...it could be a relative. The talent runs in families, sometimes.
Knowing my brother, though, it probably isn't. And to think I was happy for him--he's going to be so upset when he finds out. I'll have to get him out of this, somehow. How he can think he's capable of looking after our cousins, when he can't even be trusted to look after himself...

I wanted to talk to my brother about our cousins before I write to their parents, but I don't think I can wait. There are rumours that the Royal Academy may be closing soon. If I don't get this settled soon, I don't know where they'll be sent.
I'm starting to worry. Viresh still hasn't been in to work. It's not that I'm surprised that he's obsessing over his lover--he never does anything halfway--but he needs to remember that he does have a job. He's just lucky that Mrs Walsingham is too distracted by the news from the Academy to notice that he's not here.

I have no idea what is going on at the Academy. I'm not surprised Anjali's housemates are spreading silly rumours (a 'demon of improper thoughts', indeed! An excuse for bad behaviour, more likely) but I am surprised that the teachers are allowing such rumours to continue.
We'll never know what really killed those girls, or the defence professor, because I'm sure those superstitious fools have already destroyed the bodies.
It would not surprise me if they do close the school. I need to get word to my cousins in India. I can't imagine they really meant for Anjali to stay with my brother, even if they have been letting her brother do so. I know the gates aren't supposed to be used for personal messages, but I'd bet that Bran can find a way around that.

My brother is late to work for the second time in two days, and right now I'm not even sure if he'll come in at all.
Good for him.
Gareth would not be out quite so much money if he'd just realised that Viresh never does anything halfway. It's not that he was asexual, he'd just never found the person he wanted to devote himself to. He did the same thing with Father's research - one day he didn't care, the next nothing was more important.

There are rumours going around that something is loose at the Academy - that it has killed two students and possibly a professor already. The last one was already haunting the castle when they found it, which is quite surprising - one of the major obstacles in my research is that most people are too weak-willed to try to remain.
I would be off in an instant for even the chance to investigate such an occurrence, but they have already exorcised it and burned the body. If rumours can be trusted, they even let one of those barbarian hunters that have so plagued my brother do the exorcism. I sympathise with his frustration over the lack of intellectual inquiry amongst our colleagues and their reliance on outdated modes of thinking - though not enough to tell him, because I don't want to get him started again.

Subject: Maya Lockhart Time of initial death: unknown - see notes Duration of revival: 15 minutes, 20 seconds
Analysis: The body was in an advanced state of decomposition consistent with either a decomposition charm placed a few days ago or the expiration of a preservation charm of unknown duration. In the post-revival interview the subject claimed that both are true; death occurred both several months ago and within the past few days. The subject exhibited the usual post-revival hysteria and was unable to expand on the circumstances of the initial death and revival. Reports of the subject's actions indicates that the subject was placed under very strong mental control, which appears to have suppressed the usual reaction.
Propose that next subject be placed under mental control immediately on revival.
Personal notes:
I want to know how they did that. She was up and walking around normally for weeks if not months; I've never had one make it past half an hour. Not all the damage was due to decomposition - it looks like they didn't bother to fix whatever killed her. What a waste - if they had, would she still be alive? How did they keep her from being hysterical? Even when they know me, like she did, they panic when I bring them back.
I refuse to accept my colleagues' claims of demonic possession - mental control is more than adequate to explain her anomalous behaviour. We have to find whoever did this before law enforcement does - they'd toss him into gaol like a common criminal.
